Viking Voyage Slots is a really strait forward slot that offers its own spin on the special features and bonuses. It has a very smooth design and I never had any problems with the running of the slot. Everything was laid out in a strait forward manner and the symbols were very easy identify, which is not something you can say for all slots. The symbols included a regular playing card symbols, nine through ace, and a variety of Viking inspired symbols. The wild symbol is something that really caught my eye on this slot. When you win with a wild symbol a man comes alive with lightning bolts behind him and throws money at you. It has to be one of the better slot machine symbols I've seen to date.

I personally thought that the progressive jackpot could have been done a little better. I don't like the idea of handing out a jackpot randomly at the end of a spin. I prefer slots that include the progressive jackpot that are won by a combination of special symbols. This makes the game much more exciting and usually leads to bigger jackpots. I guess you wouldn't complain though if you were just surprised with a large jackpot though. I also thought the sounds could have had more variety as they became very repetitive after only a short while.

The wild symbol is the picture of the Viking with lightning bolts that I alluded to earlier. Though the wild symbol design was very cool, the wild symbol only appears on reels one and five. This gives the wild symbol limited importance and kind of dragged down the excitement the game may have had otherwise. They seemed to spend a lot of time developing the symbol so I thought it would have made more sense to include it more throughout the game.

Viking Voyage Slots offers its own spin on the traditional scatter symbol and bonus game. The scatter symbol is a picture of a long wooden Viking sailboat. Whenever you obtain three or more of these symbols anywhere on the screen you are awarded a small monetary win along with ten free games in which all winnings are doubled. The interesting part takes place whenever two or more of the scatter symbols appear during the free games. When this takes place the reels with the scatter symbols on them stay in place while the other reels spin again. The game continues in this fashion, adding your scatter wins with each spin, until you obtain no more scatter symbols with you free wins. This was an ok twist on the bonus game feature but I thought it was kind of confusing at first and it took a little trial and error to get used to.

I see where Viking Voyage Slots was trying to go. They wanted to offer a basic bonus slot with its own little twist. Unfortunately the twist was good enough to make this slot machine a must play. I would really only recommend this slot to the experienced player that is looking for something that he/she has never seen before.
