Hillbillies Slots is a fairly simple five reel, twenty line slots machine. I liked it because I pretty much had all the rules and features down pat after about only two or three minutes of play time. The design was pretty well done and they did a good job of bringing the Podunk theme to life. The symbols were also very easy to identify and I never got them confused for one another, which is an important quality for a slots machine. They included standard playing card symbols, nine through jack, and an assortment of backwoods inspired pictures that included, among others, a jug of moonshine, a hound dog, and a pig.

The graphics were very smooth in this game. I never once had to wait for any glitches or loading screens which makes the game play more enjoyable. If I would have been designing this slot, I probably would have added an additional symbol to award the progressive jackpot that this slot offers, rather than just handing it out at random. I would have added this to the slot especially because there isn't really that much else going on as far as bonus features are concerned. The sounds were pretty solid in on this machine, particularly if you're into bluegrass. Whenever the free spins are awarded, players are treated to a pretty long and enjoyable southern song.

Hillbillies Slots Wild Symbols And Scatter Symbols And Bonus Features

One thing that I didn't really like about this slot is the fact that the wild symbols, the scatters symbols, and the bonus game triggers were all the same thing. This really detracted from the excitement level that this slots machine could have potentially had. The three symbols were pictures of a female hillbilly, an old-time male hillbilly, and a young male hillbilly. These symbols only appeared on reels one, three, and five and could be used to substitute for any other symbol in the game, including the scatter symbols, because they are the scatter symbols. If a wild symbol was used in a winning combination the old man and the female hillbilly doubled your prize while the young male hillbilly multiplied your winnings by five. Whenever two or more of them appear anywhere on the screen at the same time a prize is awarded. When this happens eight free games are awarded as well. During the free games all prizes awarded are doubled. This way of doing the scatter and wild symbols, along with the free games, really placed all the emphasis of this slots machine on the hillbillies. I didn't really like this way of doing things. It really made the game a lot less exciting and made any spin without at a hillbilly on it kind of useless.

Overall, this is that fun of a slot. They turned a potential three different features into one combined feature that really drug the entire game down. I know that the way the scatter symbols and wild symbols are used on all the bonus feature slots can get a little repetitive, but this was the answer to that problem. I really wouldn't recommend anyone play this slot. The designers at RTG have developed much more fun and exciting slots for players to spend their money on.
