Oktober Fest Slots is a pretty advanced and nicely designed five reel slots machine. There weren't really any features incorporated on this machine that experienced players won't be very familiar with. They did try to add their own little twist to these features though and these worked relatively well in most circumstances. The first thing I noticed were the symbols that were used on this machine. I liked this symbols mainly because they were all really theme oriented. This really helped bring the theme alive which made the game more engaging, and thusly, more exciting. I also thought they made it very easy to identify which symbols were the special ones which made the game run much smoother. A gamble feature was included onto this machine. The gamble feature became active after any winning spin by simply pressing the gamble button. When you did this you were taken to a different screen where you had to guess either the color or suit of the next card to be displayed. If you guessed the color right then your prize was doubled and if you guessed the suit right your prize was quadrupled. Of course if you guessed incorrectly then you lost all winnings on that spin.

A picture of a German family crest served as the wild symbol on Oktober Fest Slots. This was an overly simple wild symbol in my opinion. It was made available on every reel and could be used to substitute for any symbol in the game other than the scatter and bonus symbol. The only thing I really liked about this symbol was the fact that it appeared on every reel because this effectively increased the overall winning percentages which led to more consistent winning action. I though the designers really should have included some other symbols, such as a prize multiplier, to really give this symbol a bigger impact on the overall game play.

I'm not really sure what this scatter symbol was supposed to be but it was red and gold and looked kind of like a medal. Either way it was available on every reel and was used to award a prize whenever two or more appeared anywhere on the screen together. It also awarded a single free spin whenever two or more appeared on the screen together. If three or more appeared then a free spin was awarded along with a prize. The more scatter symbols that appeared the larger that the prize awarded was. I thought this was too simple of a scatter symbol as it was pretty hard to get excited about a single free spin.

The bonus game was activated whenever three or more bonus symbols appeared anywhere on the screen together at the same time. The bonus symbol itself was a picture of a wooden beer keg with a tab on it. This symbol appeared on every reel and its sole purpose was to activate the bonus game. When the bonus game was activated you were taken to a different screen to buy beers for a friend. For every beer you bought him you were awarded a randomly selected prize. The game ended either after you had bought him five beers or he had had his fill and passed out. This was actually a pretty cool bonus game because it involved two of my favorite things; beer drinking and big prizes.

Overall, I thought this was a decent bonus game but nothing too special. I didn't really think there was anything all that great offered on this machine that really made it stand out in my mind. The designers did try to do something slightly original by awarding a free spin when only two scatter symbols appeared but in my opinion this wasn't very effective. It did seem like you were receiving more free spins but it definitely didn't add up to some of the other free spin features offered on other machines.
