Northern Lights Slots is a decent slot machine that offered some very standard features. There wasn't really anything all that special about this but I did have some fun playing it. The first thing I noticed about this machine is what the designers termed the "rapid fire jackpot." This is very similar to regular progressive jackpots only that the rapid fire jackpot is usually much smaller but awarded much more often at the end of paid spins. The game states that the more money a players spends the better their chances are of receiving the jackpot. The symbols were very well done on this machine. I liked them so much because it was very easy to keep track of the various values of the symbols and I never got any of the symbols mixed up with one another. I also thought that the important symptoms stood out very nicely. These well done symbols led to a game that played very smoothly and that was thusly more engaging. The betting options on this machine were decent but nothing amazing. Players could be on up to nine different pay lines before any given spin and this really served to increase the overall winning percentages. The betting range was also adequate and players could spin the reel for as little as a nickel or for as much as 45 dollars.

The wild symbol on Northern Lights Slots was a picture of a polar bear. This symbol appeared on every reel and could be used to substitute for any symbol in the game other than the scatter symbol. I thought this was a pretty lame wild symbol. There just wasn't any reason provided by the designers to really get excited about this symbol or root for it. I thought it was just kind of a side note in the game play that didn't have the impact it could have.

The scatter symbol is where the designers decided to place most of the emphasis on the game. The scatter symbol was a picture of the Aurora Borealis. This symbol appeared on every reel and awarded a prize whenever two or more appeared anywhere on the screen together. This symbol was also used to activate the bonus game. The bonus game was activated whenever three or more scatter symbols appeared anywhere on the screen together. During the bonus game players had to direct a polar bear to jump from ice berg to ice berg. A prize was awarded for every successful jump and the game ended whenever the bear fell into the water. I thought this was a pretty fun bonus game and it had a really big impact on the game because it was pretty easy to obtain. I would have preferred, though, that the prizes it awarded were a little large.

Overall, I thought this was a very solid slots machine. It offered enough details to its feature to really provide for some excitement and gave incentive to players to come back for repeat plays. I wish the betting options would have been done a little better but I guess this is nitpicking. I would recommend this to any person who isn't sitting in the Michigan cold as I am now.
