Emerald Isle Slots is one of the more complex machines offered by Cryptologic Software. Personally, I really like a lot of features associated with the machines I play regularly. The designers really took advantage of all the different symbols offered on this machine and made sure to make them all exciting by packing them with a lot of little details. The first thing I noticed about this machine were the symbols. They were very simple in designs but I thought this was actually a good thing. I never had any problems confusing the symbols with one another or identifying the important symbols immediately. This led to a gaming experience that was very smooth and user-friendly. The betting options were pretty well done on this machine as well. Players had the ability to be on up to twenty different pay lines before any given spin. This really served to increase your chances of winning on every spin. The only problem was that often times, when betting on this many lines, you fail to even win back your initial bet. The betting range was also very adequate and players could spin the reel for as little as a penny of for as much as 100 dollars. The sounds on this machine were very generic and I didn't think they added to the game play in any significant way and actually kind of got boring after a short period of time.

The scatter symbol offered on Emerald Isle slots was a picture of a rainbow coming over a mountain. This symbol appeared on every reel and awarded a prize whenever two or more appeared anywhere on the screen together. It was also used to award free spins. Whenever three or more of these symbols appeared together ten free games were awarded during which all prizes won were automatically tripled. I thought this was a really great scatter symbol. It unlocked free games that were relatively easy to obtain and that often led to free games because it included such a large prize multiplier.

The wild symbol on this machine included one of the coolest animations I think I have ever seen on a slots machine. The symbol was a picture of a leprechaun and whenever it was used in a winning line it did a pretty cool and entertaining dance. This symbol appeared on every reel and could be used to substitute for any symbol in the game other than the scatter symbol. The wild symbol was also used to activate the bonus game. The bonus game was activated whenever a wild symbol appeared on reels one and five at the same time. During the bonus game there were six boxes on the screen and you simply clicked on all the boxes and hoped that three of a kind of a symbol showed up somewhere. If this happened you were awarded a prize, but you were also awarded a prize if it didn't happen. I thought this was a pretty lame bonus game but it did often lead to some very large prizes.

Overall, I thought this was a very well executed slot machine. The designers did a nice job of adding a lot of little details to the features they included without overwhelming players. This is a pretty hard balance to accomplish but I thought they pulled it off pretty well.
